Dear Parents/ Guardians.

My name is Mr. Montas and I will be your child's science teacher this year. I would like to begin by introducing myself as a Latino, Male and STEM educator who was born and raised in this community. I have a strong passion for teaching science and everyday I am committed to learn something new about nature and human life. There is constant change taking place everyday in this world and as time continues to pass evolution and innovation is also taking place. My mission and role is to serve as a facilitator of learning opportunities and as a guide to helping students develop their own style of learning and questioning. I will be dedicated to spend all my time to help your child learn and comprehend the science language as well along make meaningful connections to the real world.

I attended D’Youville College where I earned my bachelor's degree in Biology. My passion for science began at a young age. This school year will be my first year at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School and I am thrilled to work close along with you young scientist in the making! Together this school year we will cultivate an innovative learning environment where students will be a foster a ‘community of inquiry’.   

Below is a supply list of the general materials that I will be needing your child to bring on the first day.

Take into account that as we move on further through the year, and students begin working on projects I will be requesting outside materials in advance to help your child enter the classroom prepared to begin their project.

13. Homework notebook / Planner

15. (4) packs of index cards 5x4
16. (1) pencil sharpener
17. (1)  Scotch Tape

Cleaning Supplies ( This only Pertains to 6th Grade Homeroom Class)

1. (4) rolls of paper towels

2. (2) container of clorox wipes
3. (2) Bottle of hand sanitizer

4. (2) boxes of Kleenex
