Good Afternoon Parents, 

Report card parent teacher conference meeting with Mr. Montas will take place from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School in person. There will also be a Zoom online virtual session to meet with Mr. Montas to help accommodate and assist parents who work from home. The Zoom availability slots will be present from 3:00 PM -5:30 PM. Below are two links provided for parents to register for either in person or online. Please be mindful of your availability and sign up within the correct registered time slot you prefer to meet.

Energy Conversion

4th graders are system engineers exploring systems. Through hands-on investigation, rereading a portion of the Systems book, and class discussion, students explore the parts and functions of various systems in order to answer the question What is a System? Students work in groups to build a simple, solar -powered electrical system from a kit of materials.The class discusses the various parts of this system and their functions and draws connections to the parts and functions of the larger electrical system.

 

Plant Propagation

 

Fifth grade plant propagation. Students learn the importance of photosynthesis and the significant purpose on why this chemical reaction is vital to plants.

Dear Parents, Guardians & Students.

 

Welcome back students and families to the 2022-2023 school year at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs! 

 

I would hope that everyone had a great summer.

 

My name is Edward Montas and I am very delighted to introduce myself as the Science teacher for grades four through eight. Our faculty and staff at OLQM are ecstatic to return to school in person.  My commitment to teach your child using  Next Generation Science Standards through hands-on lessons and experimental training which will prepare their minds for new and upcoming challenges of an ever changing world.  

The protocols and challenges linked with COVID-19 have normalized and it is safe to say that this year will be filled with wonderful surprises, trips and outdoor activities leading to the exploration of science.

 

Mr. Woods has posted several announcements on the school blog with updated information about the upcoming school year. Please take the time to check it periodically. The building will be open to parents making communication between parent and teacher more feasible.

 

I have posted the school supplies necessary for this upcoming school year term below.

 

I am anticipating a pleasant year teaching Science to your child.
