Grade 6
Hw. Questions
What are the seven life process that we need in order to carry out daily activities and events?
How does kinetic energy and potential energy differ?
How can stationary objects have mechanical energy?
Explain why gravitational potential energy is a form of potential energy?
Please write these questions out and answer briefly in the correct form using complete sentences
Please do pages 203-207 on Using Energy and Heat in your reading essentials book and answer question 1-9 please write all the questions located on on the side panel of the book out.
Make sure you do the FOLDABLES with each categories specified in class and reading essential book on page 204. The answer to those categories are in the reading.
Tomorrow you have an entrance ticket on the 4 given vocabulary words
(4)Energy, (1)Potential Energy, (2)Chemical Energy, (3)Nuclear Energy.
Please make sure you study the “definitions” as I will be providing you with the words and you would have to respond by providing me with the definitions of the word.
Ven-diagrams with comparisons of Thermal energy and Mechanical energy will also be collected in class tomorrow for class participation points.
Vocabulary: Transition onto index cards
chemical energy stored in and released from the bonds between atoms
electric energy in an electric current
energy ability to cause change
kinetic energy energy due to motion
mechanical energy sum of potential energy and kinetic energy in a system
nuclear energy stored in and released from the nucleus of an atom
potential energy stored energy due to the interaction between objects or particles
radiant energy carried by electromagnetic waves
sound energy carried by sound waves
speed distance an object moves per unit of time
thermal energy sum of kinetic energy and potential energy of the particles that make up an object
wave disturbance that transfers energy from one place to another without transferring matter
Triple Beam Balance -The triple beam balance is used to measure masses very precisely; the reading error is 0.05 gram. With the pan empty, move the three sliders on the three beams to their leftmost positions, so that the balance reads zero.
