Energy from the Sun The Sun is a major source of energy. Energy from sunlight helps plants grow and is stored inside them as chemical energy. It is also the source of energy in wood and fossil fuels, two other examples of chemical energy. The Sun itself is an example of nuclear energy. Energy released from hydrogen atoms gives the Sun its power.
